Giving up on your team is hard enough, so it comes as no surprise to this fan that most hard feelings will be forgotten by XMas morning. That is the scheduled start date for the new and improved 2011-2012 NBA season.
Oklahoma City has much to be thankful for since having a young team with an energetic core most likely will be able to overcome the hectic, abbreviated training camp. If the NFL mess proved anything, it is to not expect great play in the early weeks.
The Thunder should enjoy the stability from last year's long run in the playoffs with maybe even one added bonus.
Expect GM Sam Presti to make good on keeping Kevin Durant's running mate, Russell Westbrook, under team control no matter the cost.
Will it take a bigger deal than what Durant signed to keep #0 on the OKC roster? The great thing about this superstar combo is that none of that will matter around Western Conference Final time.
Ego problems are few are far between on the Thunder roster, with the singular goal of bringing a championship to the crazy fanbase taking precedent.
The month to come will be a wild ride, and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds!
